CLEVELAND (OH) - The Delaware Valley College wrestling team, ranked fourth in Division III, has reached the semifinals of the 2005 NWCA/Cliff Keen Division III National Duals (hosted by Cleveland State University) after victories over a pair of nationally-ranked teams on Friday.

The Aggies (8-2) opened competition with a 35-6 route of No. 29 Augustana College (IL) in the preliminary round and followed with a 21-18 triumph over No.5 University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in the quarterfinals.

As a result, Delaware Valley will hit the mats Saturday morning (9:00 a.m.) against the number one ranked team in Division III, Augsburg College (MN), in the semifinals. Augsburg has reached the semifinals with a 47-0 shutout of unranked Baldwin-Wallace College (OH) and a 40-3 thrashing of No. 10 John Carroll University (OH).

In the match against Augustana, the Aggies won eight of 10 weight classes, including pins by Mike Weston (125), Andrew Helms (184) and Jamall Johnson (197). Weston needed just 33 seconds to drop Noah Zyduck, while Helms, ranked second in the country in his weight class, pinned Matt Zickafoose in 2:09. Johnson pinned Kyle Considine 24 seconds into the second period (3:24).

Barry Wise (133) and Mike Moore (Hwt) picked up four points apiece for the Aggies with major decisions. Wise, a two-time All-American who is ranked second nationally, earned a 14-5 victory over Dan Stanton while Moore blanked John Parkhurst, 10-0.

Tom Becker (141), Rick Frondorf (149) and Jason Shivak (174) were also victorious for Delaware Valley. Becker, starting in place of the injured Dan Hall, was a 3-1 winner over Larry Amedio. Frondorf followed with a 5-2 decision over Ryan McMurray, and Shivak, ranked fourth nationally, earned a 4-2 victory over Nathan Demus.
