University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown 22, Delaware Valley 13

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Junior Andrew Helms pulled off a major upset at 197 pounds but it wasn't enough as Delaware Valley College, ranked sixth in Division III, dropped a 22-13 home decision to the eighth-ranked team in Division II, Pitt-Johnstown.

Helms, a returning national qualifier and the seventh-ranked Division III wrestler in his weight class, improved to 7-0 on the season as a takedown in overtime gave him a 3-1 victory over two-time Division II All-American Howard Bell. Bell placed sixth at nationals last season.

Mike Weston also picked up a big victory at 125 pounds as he pinned 2003 Division II national qualifier Ryon Mazzocco in 5:53. The win upped Weston's record to 8-2 on the year and it gave the Aggies (2-1) a 6-0 lead in the match.

However, the Mountain Cats (1-0) won the next five weight classes to take a 16-6 lead. Two-time national qualifier Jason Shivak made it a six-point match as he picked up a 15-4 major decision over Mark Glova at 174 pounds. Shivak is now a perfect 7-0 on the year for Delaware Valley.

However, Pitt-Johnstown put the match away by winning two of the final three matches on the afternoon. The lone Aggie victory down the stretch was Helms' stunner at 197 pounds.
