Delaware Valley 51, Delaware State University 3

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - The Delaware Valley College wrestling team, ranked fifth in Division III, used four pins and four forfeits to post a 51-3 victory over Division I Delaware State University.

The Aggies now enter the semester break with a 3-1 record in dual meets (the lone loss was to nationally-ranked Division II foe University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown). They return to action on Friday and Saturday, January 9 and 10, for the Shippensburg University Duals.

The victory over Delaware State was the 23rd in 24 career meetings with the Hornets. Junior Mike Weston began the match by pinning Jerry Davis 65 seconds into his 125-pound match. Weston is now 9-4 on the season.

Freshman Dan Hall also won by fall as he downed Walter Robeson with four seconds left in the first period (2:56) to improve to 10-3 on the year. Junior Mike Berlanda added a pin at 157 pounds as he needed just 68 seconds to down Rashad Vance. Berlanda is 5-6 on the season.

The final pin of the day came from 2002 All-American and fifth-ranked Josh Housekeeper as he pinned David Mears in just 59 seconds. The senior is now 10-3 on the year and moved into a tie for ninth place with current assistant coach and three-time Division III national champion Shaun Smith on the Aggie all-time list with 88 victories.

Senior Jeremy Messinger earned his eighth win in 13 decisions with an 11-5 decision over Grant Gray at 149 pounds. Barry Wise (133), Andrew Belding (174), Andrew Helms (197) and Wayne Helms (Hwt) were awarded victories by forfeit.

Delaware State's (0-1) lone points came at 165 pounds when Marco Hall's takedown 12 seconds in overtime gave him a 6-4 triumph over Kevin Moore.
