Delaware Valley 44, King's Point 4

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- The Delaware Valley College wrestling team, ranked 11th in Division III, recorded pins in three of the first four weight classes as the Aggies downed King's Point (U.S. Merchant Marine Academy), 44-4, in a non-conference match.

Jeremy Messinger opened things up for Delaware Valley (7-1) by pinning Mike Syntax 53 seconds into the second period of the 149-pound match. Mike Berlanda (157) followed with a 12-8 decision and defending conference champions Jason Shivak (165) and Josh Housekeeper (174) pinned their opponents to give the Aggies a 21-0 lead.

Shivak, who is currently ranked sixth in Division III for his weight class, led 7-0 before earning the fall with three second left in the first period. Housekeeper, a returning All-American who is ranked second in the country, needed just 33 seconds to down Ty Barrion.

Mike Weston (125) and B.J Wise (133) also earned pins for the Aggies and they both do so in less than a minute. Weston needed just 58 seconds to down Mike Syntak while Wise followed with a 42-second victory over Erick Amiscosa.

Andrew Helms, ranked seventh in Division III at 197 pounds, picked up a 17-2 technical fall over Ed DiPierro. Luke Morris (184) and Wayne Helms (Hwt) were also victorious for Delaware Valley.
The Mariners' (4-6) lone victory came in the last bout of the night as Gerry Fortuna recorded an 11-3 major decision over Jim Mowbray.
