Delaware Valley 43, Albright College 9

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - The Delaware Valley College wrestling team, ranked eighth in Division III, improved to 16-3 overall and 6-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) with a 43-9 victory over visiting Albright College.

Only four matches took place as the Lions (3-16) forfeited five weight classes and the Aggies were forced to forfeit one.

Delaware Valley won three of the four matches led by Jeremy Messinger's victory at 149 pounds. The junior took a 6-2 lead then pinned Chris Shadel in 1:38 of the first period. The Aggies also got victories at 184 pounds with Luke Morris' 10-1 major decision over Sean Sullivan, and at heavyweight as Kyle Phipps earned a 6-2 decision over Matt Ballistreri.

B.J. Wise (133), Jim Mowbray (141), Jason Shivak (165), Josh Housekeeper (174) and Andrew Helms (197) were awarded forfeit victories. Housekeeper is the second-ranked wrestler in Division III at his weight class while Shivak is fourth.

Albright's points came at 125 pounds as Wade Ginter was awarded a forfeit victory when Mike Weston was a late scratch (ill), and at 157 pounds as Brian McElrone notched an escape with eight seconds left in the second overtime for a 4-3 decision over Mike Berlanda.
