2007 SEASON REVIEW

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- The Delaware Valley College volleyball team, under head coach Shawn Rush, recently concluded its 2007 season. The Aggies went 11-13 overall and 1-5 in the Freedom Conference.

The conference victory was a 3-0 triumph over Manhattanville College on October 10 and it snapped a 31-match Freedom losing streak - a span that dated back to the 2001 campaign.

Senior Andrea Wolf (Allentown, PA/Parkland) had a standout season for Delaware Valley and was named to the all-Freedom Conference first team for her efforts. It was the second time that the middle hitter earned all-conference accolades as she was a second team selection and Freedom Rookie of the Year back in 2004.

Wolf paced the Aggies with 268 kills, a .227 hitting percentage and 58 blocks. Her average of 3.2 kills per game ranked fifth in the conference, while her hitting percentage ranked seventh in the Freedom. Wolf also added 42 services aces (second on team) and finished her career as Delaware Valley's all-time leader in the category with 199.

Wolf was one of four Aggie seniors - all team captains - who concluded their collegiate careers. Joining Wolf on that list were Jackie Holdsworth (Dumont, NJ/Dumont), Stephanie Knox (Narberth, PA/Lower Merion) and Bonnie Zobel (Southampton, PA/William Tennent).

Holdsworth finished sixth in the conference in service aces with 44 in 74 games (0.59 avg). The outside hitter also tied for third on the Aggie squad with 136 kills and was fourth in digs with 223.

Knox, a middle hitter, saw time in 85 of the 88 games and tied Holdsworth for third in kills with 136. Her 29 kills ranked second.

Zobel, the team's setter, ranked fourth in the Freedom Conference with an average of 7.39 assists per game (643 total). She also added 55 kills, 241 digs (third on the team), 29 service aces and 13 blocks.

Junior libero Kate Klish (Nanticoke, PA/Greater Nanticoke) notched a record-setting season for the Aggies. She led the Freedom Conference and set a new single-season standard in digs with 644 (7.32 avg). In the process, Klish became the school's all-time leader in the category with 1,362 and also holds the single-match record with 50 digs. She also tallied 27 assists, 18 kills and 14 service aces on the year.

Sophomore Jaki Blood (Linesville, PA/Linesville) also placed among the conference leaders as her team-high 47 service aces in 82 games (0.57 avg) ranked eighth in the Freedom. Blood also recorded 49 kills and 195 digs.

Freshman outside hitter Ashley Mikulsky (Reading, PA/Exeter) had a standout rookie campaign for the Aggies. She placed second on the squad in both kills (160) and digs (261) and was also fourth in service aces with 33.

Sophomore Danielle Ford (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) and freshman Amy Scordato (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascak Valley) saw significant playing time in 2007. Ford, a middle hitter appeared in 65 games and finished with 65 kills, 18 digs and 12 blocks. Scordato, a setter, tallied 40 digs and 11 assists in 27 appearances.

Sophomore Ashley Unger (Cheswick, PA/Deer Lakes) and junior Christen Hartman (Sinking Spring, PA/(home schooled) saw time in eight and seven games respectively. Unger, a middle hitter/outside hitter, notched four kills and 13 digs while Hartman, an outside hitter, contributed two kills and six digs.

Freshmen Kelsey Fisher (Great Meadows, NJ/Hackettstown), Caylee Mook (Mahanoy City, PA/Mahanoy) and Kristine Velez (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) rounded out the Delaware Valley roster. Fisher, an outside hitter, had two kills and seven digs in seven games while Mook, an outside hitter, added two kills and two digs in two appearances.
