Bryn Athyn College 3, Delaware Valley 2 (30-27, 6-30, 30-27, 21-30, 17-15)

The Delaware Valley College volleyball team began its 2003 season with a tough, 3-2 loss at Bryn Athyn College. Game scores were 30-27, 6-30, 30-27, 21-30 and 17-15 in favor of Bryn Athyn.

The loss spoiled the collegiate coaching debut of Shawn Rush, who was named the new Aggie head coach in the offseason.

In her first collegiate match, freshman Jackie May set a Delaware Valley record by tallying 13 service aces. That broke the previous mark of 11 set by Kelly Orser against Neumann in 1996. May also had five kills, 12 assists and six blocks.

Liz Garner added five kills in the loss while Shavonna Reed had six blocks.
