2008 SEASON PREVIEW

Nine letterwinners, including six conference qualifiers, are back for head coach Ed Andrewlevich and the Delaware Valley College women’s track and field team as the Aggies look to improve on last year’s ninth-place finish at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships.

Heading the cast of returnees is junior Becky Heisey (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore) who placed in the top eight in three events and earned all 10 of the team’s points at last year’s MAC Championships.
Heisey placed fourth in the shot put (36-2) and sixth in the javelin (115-7) to earn second-team, all-conference honors in those events. She also placed seventh in the discus with a toss of 100 feet, 10 inches. Heisey also competed in the 100-meter hurdles last season.

Junior Sara Brown (Troy, PA/Troy) qualified for the MACs in the 1,500-meter run while sophomore Brittany Schwartz (Strasburg, PA/Lancaster Christian) competed in the 5,000-meter run.

Sophomores Amanda Barr (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg), Greta Heagy (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) and Nicola Procino (Boonton Township, PA/Mountain Lakes) also have MAC championship experience in the 400-meter hurdles, the high jump and the heptathlon respectively.

Delaware Valley begins its season on Saturday, March 29 as the Aggies travel to Widener University for the Danny Curran Invitaitonal. The Aggies will then be back at Widener for the MAC Championships from May 1 to May 3.
