Aggies Compete At MAC Championships


CHESTER (PA) - The Delaware Valley College men's and women's track and field teams each placed eighth out of eight squads at the 2008 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships held at Widener University.

The women notched 18 points while the men picked up 15 points. Messiah College won the women's title with 274.5 points while Elizabethtown College took the men's crown with 215.5 points.

Freshman Jennifer Alderfer placed in the top eight and scored in a pair of events. She was fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.13 seconds and was sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.52 seconds.

Amanda Barr and Nicola Procino each placed eighth in events. Barr recorded a time of 1 minute, 19.71 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles while Procino racked up 1,829 points in the heptathlon.

On the men's side, Kerry Swope and Shane Toohey each finished in the top five. Swope took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a tome of 17.10 seconds while Toohey threw the javelin 168 feet, 9 inches to take fifth.
