TUCSON (AZ) - The Delaware Valley College softball team fell to
0-4 on the season with a pair of losses on Saturday. The Aggies
dropped a 6-3 decision to Babson College and followed with a 2-1
setback to Augsburg.
Delaware Valley trailed 4-0 to Babson (1-3) before it struck for
three runs in the sixth. Brittany Stockert drove a run in with a
single and Kelly Andrews followed with an RBI double. Nicole Dorney
then knocked in pinch runner Courtney Case with a single to make
it a 4-3 ballgame.
However, Babson responded with two runs in its hald of the inning,
both on Aggie errors, to take a 6-3 advantage. Delaware Valley then
managed just one hit in the seventh to end the game. The three hits
in the sixth and one in the seventh were all the Aggies managed
in the contest. Kirstyn Ruhling suffered the loss after giving up
four runs (three earned) in four innings of work.
In the Augsburg contest, Delaware Valley was once again down a
run heading into the sixth inning when Andrews and Dorney had back-to-back
doubles to tie the game. Augsburg (3-7) regained the lead in the
bottom of the stanza on a Delaware Valley miscue and the Aggies
went down in order in the seventh. Jennifer Bummer took the loss
despite not giving up an earned run and just four hits while fanning
eight.
