Delaware Valley College 7, Arcadia University 0 (Game 1)
Arcadia University 8, Delaware Valley College 6 (Game 2)

GLENSIDE (PA) - - Kirstyn Ruhling tossed a five-hit shutout in the first game as Delaware Valley College split a Freedom Conference doubleheader with host Arcadia University. The Aggies, behind Ruhling, posted a 7-0 victory in the opener but dropped an 8-6 decision in the nightcap.

Ruhling, a second-team all-conference honoree last season, picked up her second win of the season as she allowed just two Knight runners to reach second base in the game. She walked one batter and fanned one.|

Offensively, the Aggies (6-10, 2-2) scored one run in the top of the first as Robyn Jackson led off the game with a single and came around to score on an RBI single by Nicole Dorney. They added two more in the third inning on RBI singles by Kelly Andrews and Brittany Stockert.

Delaware Valley then put the game with four runs over the final two stanzas. In the sixth, Bethany Pavlik knocked in runs with sacrifice flies in both the sixth and seventh innings, while a Jackson RBI double and a passed ball accounted for the remaining two runs. Jackson finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI in the contest.

The nightcap saw the Aggies pound out four home runs to build a 6-2 lead after four and a half innings of play. Five of their runs came in the fourth inning as Pavlik knocked in one with single while Andrews and Dorney followed with back-to-back round trippers. After an out, Maureen Ferguson went deep as well. In the sixth, Lacy Miles blasted a home run for the four-run advantage.

However, Arcadia (7-11, 2-2) sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fifth as it notched six runs on five hits and two costly errors to take an 8-6 lead. Jaime Bee started the inning with a double and she came up again in the inning and broke a 6-6 stalemate with a two-run single. Delaware Valley put the tying run to the plate in the sixth but that was as close at it would come.

Miles and Fergson had two hits apiece for the Aggies while Andrews knocked in a pair of runs. Ruhling took the loss in relief of Jennifer Bummer.

Kristen Burns and Danielle Discher had three hits each for the Knights while Bee was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Kellie Reese pitched three-plus innings of relief and was credited with the win.
