Delaware Valley College 10, Gwynedd-Mercy 3 (Game 1)
Gwynedd-Mercy College 9, Delaware Valley College 8 (Game 2)

GWYNEDD VALLEY (PA) - Freshman Bethany Pavlik smacked a home run in each game and finished the day with six runs scored and four RBIs as Delaware Valley College split a non-conference doubleheader at Gwynedd-Mercy College, The Aggies notched a 10-3 victory in the opener before Gwynedd-Mercy rallied for a 9-8 triumph in the nightcap.

Pavlik was a perfect 3-for-3 and also drew four walks on the afternoon. She hit a two-run homer in the opening game and added a solo shot in the second contest. Pavlik is now tied for top honors on the team with four round-trippers.

Down 2-0 in the opener, Delaware Valley (13-7) got one back in the second on a RBI single by Lauren Fenstermacher. The Aggies then sent 11 batters to the plate for a six-run third inning. The big blow in the stanza was a two-out, two-run double by Kim Harle.

Delaware Valley tacked two more on in the fourth on Pavlik's shot over the left field fence. After the Griffins (7-13) scored a run in the fifth, the Aggies ended the scoring in the sixth on Maureen Ferguson's RBI double.

Ferguson and Fenstermacher each went 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Kelly Andrews (2-for-3) and Nicole Dorney (2-for-4) also had multiple-hit games. Brittany Stockert improved to 2-0 as she went the full seven innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits.

The second game saw Delaware Valley score four times, including a two-run single by Dorney, in the top of the sixth to take an 8-5 lead. However, Gwynedd-Mercy scored once in the sixth and then three times in the seventh for the improbable comeback. Brianna Cannelli tied the contest with a two-run double and Jayme DiLeonardo brough home the game-winning run with a one-out single.

The Aggies had jumped out a 2-0 lead with Pavlik's solo home run in the second and Dorney's RBI single in the third. The Griffins tied the game in the bottom of the third before Delaware Valley regained the advantage in the fifth with a double steal and an RBI single by Nancy Kauffman.

Gwynedd-Mercy countered with three runs in its half of the fifth for a 5-4 advantage. That led to the Aggies' four-run, sixth inning and the Griffins' late rally.

Kauffman was 3-for-4 with one RBI for Delaware Valley. Dorney was 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Fenstermacher (2-for-5), Lacy Miles (2-for-4) and Pavlik (2-for-2) also had two hits apiece. Nikki Zimmerman suffered the loss and fell to 1-2.
