King's College 5, Delaware Valley 2 (Game 1)
King's College 10, Delaware Valley 1 (Game 2 - 5 innings)

WILKES-BARRE (PA) - Perennial Freedom Conference power King's College remained tied for first as the Lady Monarchs swept a doubleheader from visiting Delaware Valley College, 5-2 and 10-1. The second game was called after five innings due to the eight-run mercy rule.

King's improved to 20-4 overall and 7-1 in conference play while the Aggies fell to 10-13 overall and 2-6 in the Freedom.

Delaware Valley jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opener with single runs in both the first and second innings. Kim Harle led off the game with a single and eventually came around to score on a wild pitch, while Stephanie Sedeyn knocked in Amy DeBuck with a single in the second stanza.

However, King's scored once in the third and took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth. The Lady Monarchs then added one more in the fifth for the 5-2 final. Kelsey Shreaves knocked in three runs and also picked up the win in relief.

Harle, Sedeyn, Kelly Andrews, Nicole Dorney and Maureen Ferguson notched hits for the Aggies. Kirstyn Ruhling pitched five-plus innings and allowed just two runs on six hits. Nikki Zimmerman took the loss in relief and she started the fourth inning and gave up three runs.

In the nightcap, the Lady Monarchs erupted for 10 runs in the first inning off of five hits, four walks and two Aggie errors. Delaware Valley scored its lone run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Dorney. Sedeyn, Lacy Miles and Chelsea Yasenchak had the lone hits for Delaware Valley while Stephanie Raziano took the loss despite only giving up two earned runs.
