Post University 2, Delaware Valley 1

FORT MEYERS (FL) -- The Delaware Valley College softball team opened the 2005 season with a tough, 2-1 loss to Division II Post University on the Aggies' Spring Break trip to Florida.

It's Delaware Valley's first trip to Florida after years of competing in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Aggies are scheduled to play 10 games during the week.

The game was scoreless through five innings until Post scored a run in the top of the sixth. Delaware Valley matched it in the bottom of the inning as Kelly Andrews doubled and Keltrice Norman came in to pinch-run. Norman then scored on Nicole Dorney's double.

However, Jennifer Giarratano hit a one-out, home run in the seventh for the game winner. The loss spoiled the collegiate pitching debut of freshman Kirstyn Ruhling. Ruhling allowed just two run and seven hits while fanning two.
