Delaware Valley 12, Haverford College 8 (Game 1)
Delaware Valley 8, Haverford College 5 (Game 2)

HAVERFORD (PA) - Freshman catcher Nicole Dorney went a combined 7-for-8 with three home runs and seven RBIs and set the Delaware Valley College single-season record for round trippers as the Aggies swept a non-conference doubleheader from host Haverford College, 12-8 and 8-5.

Delaware Valley improved to 14-21 on the season, the second-highest victory total in Aggie history. The Fords fell to 10-25.

Dorney's seven home runs this season broke the previous mark of six set by Delaware Valley Hall of Fame Kelly Sciss in 1992. She smacked two home runs in the opening game to tie that school record as well.

The first game saw the Aggies scored nine times on nine hits and three Haverford errors in the third inning to erase a 4-0 deficit. Dorney knocked two runs in with a home run while fellow rookie Jennifer Bummer added a RBI double in the inning.

Haverford responded with a run its half of the third, but Delaware Valley put the contest away with three runs in the fifth. Freshman Kim Harle doubled in a run and then came around to score on Dorney's second blast of the game.

Dorney finished the opener 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Bummer was a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and one RBI. Harle added two hits and two RBIs while fellow rookies Kelly Andrews and Stephanie Raziano had two hits apiece.

Freshman Kirstyn Ruhling pitched the final five innings and earned her ninth win of the season. She allowed three runs and six hits while fanning four.

The Aggies had another big third inning in the nightcap as they scored four times on four hits and three Ford miscues. Harle knocked in the first run with a double and later came around to score on freshman Emma Nichols' RBI single. One out later, Dorney hit her third home run of the day, a two-run shot for a 4-0 advantage.

Haverford scored twice in the bottom of the fourth, but Delaware Valley upped the lead in the fifth on a two-run double by Andrews. Dorney had a RBI double in the sixth and junior Amy DeBuck added a RBI double in the seventh to end their scoring.

Dorney was 4-for-4 with three RBIs in the second game and Harle was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI. Andrews was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Bummer picked up her second win of the season as she went the full seven innings and allowed five runs while striking out four.
