FDU-Florham 8, Delaware Valley 2 (Game 2)

MADISON (NJ) - Delaware Valley College opened Freedom Conference action by dropping a pair of games at FDU-Florham 8-0 and 8-2. The first game was called in the sixth inning due to the eight-run mercy rule.

The Aggies, who had four of their previous five games, fell to 6-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The Devils improved to 9-11, 2-2 with the doubleheader sweep.

In the first game, Delaware Valley was limited to just one hit by FDU-Florham freshman Katelyn Smith. That hit came in the third inning when Aggie pitcher Kirstyn Ruhling led off the stanza with a single. Smith walked just one batter and fanned two.

Meanwhile, the Devil offense scored three times in both the third and fourth innings before ending the contest with two runs in the sixth. Tara Hulse led the charge with a pair of doubles and three RBIs.
Ruhling went five innings and allowed seven runs on 10 hits.

The nightcap saw the Devils open up a 5-0 lead before the Aggies got on the board in the sixth as Stephanie Raziano doubled in a run and later came around to score on a RBI single by Maureen Ferguson.

Julie Hartnett picked up the win for FDU-Florham and also knocked in four run with a grand slam home run in the fourth inning. Nicole Dorney and Kim Harle each went 2-for-4 for Delaware Valley while Jennifer Bummer took the loss on the mound.
