Delaware Valley 7, Arcadia University 4

GLENSIDE (PA) - Freshman Kirstyn Ruhling allowed just one earned run and five hits over seven innings while fellow rookie Nicole Dorney smashed a two-run homer to lead Delaware Valley College to a 7-4 road victory over Arcadia University.

It was originally scheduled as a doubleheader but the teams were able to get one contest after a later start. The Aggies improved to 3-6 on the season while Arcadia dropped its third straight and fell to 10-3.

Ruhling now has two of the team's three wins as she upped her record to 2-1. Up 5-4 in the sixth, she pitched out of a jam after the Knights put runners on first and third with one out. Ruhling fanned Christine Crowe for her lone strikeout of the game, then got Danielle Discher to pop out to end the inning.

Dorney gave the Aggies two insurance runs in the top of the seventh with her first collegiate home run. It was her lone hit of the game as she went 1-for-4.

Delaware Valley trailed 2-1 early on with its lone run coming on a RBI single by Kelly Andrews. However, the Aggies scored four times in the fourth including a RBI single by Kim Harle and a bases loaded walk by Katie Leach.
