Delaware Valley 4, Wesley College 3
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH (SC) -- For the second time this season, the
Delaware Valley College softball team used defensive heroics to
save a victory as the Aggies picked up a 4-3 triumph over Wesley
College on Tuesday.
Delaware Valley (3-1) held a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh,
but Wesley had runners on second and third with just one out. A
Wesley player hit a long drive to centerfield that may have been
a potential game-winning home run.
However, Aggie center fielder Katie Leach caught the ball while
crashing into the wall. The runner on third tagged up and easily
scored and the runner on second tried to come all the way around
for the game-tying run. Leach got up and threw a one-bounce strike
to nail the runner for the final out of the game. One day earlier,
Delaware Valley recorded a game-ending triple play for a 4-2 over
New Jersey City University.
Michelle Smith picked up her second win of the season for the Aggies.
