Delaware Valley 1, Arcadia University 0

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Sophomore pitcher Jennifer Moyer notched a five-hit shutout as Delaware Valley College blanked Arcadia University, 1-0, in the Aggies' home opener. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was postponed due to rain.

Moyer improved to 3-0 on the season as she permitted just one walk and struck out three. Moyer did not allow a hit until the fifth inning and got out of three jams in the late innings.

Arcadia's (7-4) biggest threat came in the sixth inning as the Scarlet Knights had runners on second and third with one out. Maggie Schaeffer hit a fly ball to right-center field. Right fielder Lindsay Eversole caught it, then gunned down Jade Gasper at the plate for the inning-ending double play.

Delaware Valley (5-1) picked up its lone run in the first inning as Jackie Neil reached on an error, stole second and came around to score on a two-out Arcadia error.

Beth Sander, Christine Bowie, Alison Suttie and Jenn Welsh recorded hits for the Aggies.
