FREEDOM CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS
Manhattanville College 2, Delaware Valley College 0

PURCHASE (NY) - Brianne Despuches and Holly Nonis scored second-half goals as top-seeded Manhattanville College posted a 2-0 victory over No. 4 Delaware Valley College in the Freedom Conference semifinals.

The Aggies, who reached the postseason for the second time in the last three years, saw its season come to an end with a 7-10-3 record. Manhattanville improved to 6-11-3 with all six wins coming in Freedom play. The Valiants will host second-seeded Arcadia University, which outlasted Wilkes University in penalty kicks, in Saturday's Freedom Conference Championship Game.

Delaware Valley and Manhattanville met for the second time in the last 54 hours as the two settled for a 1-1 tie in Doylestown on Sunday, a result that put the Aggies into the playoffs.

Tuesday night's game was scoreless at halftime with the Valiants holding an 11-5 advantage in shots in the first 45 minutes. However, Manhattanville hit the scoreboard just 6:03 into the second stanza as Despuches scored her first goal of the year off assists from Nonis and Cybil Robinson.

The Valiants then got an insurance goal with 8:06 remaining as Nonis outraced the Aggie defense from midfield and beat goalkeeper Cortney Bower for her sixth tally of the season.

Manhattanville finished with a 19-7 advantage in shots. Ali Bromson stopped five shots for the shutout while Bower ended the evening with six saves for Delaware Valley.
