Delaware Valley College 3, Alvernia College 2

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Junior forward Elisa Dauber scored a trio of breakaway goals to lift Delaware Valley College to a 3-2, non-conference victory over visiting Alvernia College.

The win was the first of the season for the Aggies as they improved to 1-2 on the young year. Alvernia fell from the unbeaten ranks to 2-1.

The six points by Dauber moved her into fifth place on the Delaware Valley all-time scoring list with 50 points. She gave the Aggies a 2-0, halftime lead with goals at 5:57 and 41:57 in the second stanza. The second tally was assisted by Nicki Martini.

The Crusaders need just two minutes and 31 minutes into the second half to make it a one-goal game as Brandi Light scored off an assist from Casey Weber. However, Dauber completed the hat trick with 27:20 remaining to make it a 3-1 contest.

Alvernia hit a pair of crossbars and finally pulled to within one with just 2:42 remaining as Laura-Beth Diggs headed home a beautiful cross from Light. The Crusaders pushed forward for the tying goal but Delaware Valley held for the win.

Alvernia held a 17-14 advantage in shots. Cortney Bower stopped eight shots in the win while Danielle Fitzpatrick made five saves at the other end.
