Delaware Valley 3, Washington College 1

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College assured itself of a non-losing season for the first time since 2002 as the Aggies notched a 3-1, non-conference victory over Washington College.

The Aggies are 9-8-1 overall with one regular-season game remaining, a crucial Freedom Conference contest with The University of Scranton on Saturday afternoon. At 3-2-1 in conference play, Delaware Valley can reach the conference playoffs with a victory over the defending champions, who are 4-2 in the Freedom this season.

The Aggies scored two goals in the first 12 minutes against Washington to take control of the contest. Freshman Elise Dauber, the reigning Freedom Conference Player of the Week, notched her eighth goal of the season off an assist from Ana Mecaj 5:21 into the contest. Fellow rookie Christine DelTurco followed less than seven minutes later with an unassisted tally, her second of the season.

Seven minutes into the second half, Mecaj was taken down in the box for a penalty shot. Senior defender Abby Worton took the shot and found the net for her first collegiate goal and a 3-0 Aggie lead.

Washington (2-12-1) spoiled the shutout bid with 3:52 to go on a Frannie Lawrence tally. Delaware Valley held a 15-11advantage in shots. Emily Joyce made six saves for the victory.
