Delaware Valley 2, FDU-Florham 1

MADISON (NJ) - Sophomore Brittany Shubra scored both Delaware Valley College goals to lead the Aggies to their fifth straight victory, a 2-1 triumph over host FDU-Florham in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams.

After starting the year 0-2, Delaware Valley is now 5-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Devils fell to 4-3, 0-1.

The two teams played scoreless ball for more than 75 minutes before they combined for the game's three goals in a three-minute span. Shubra started the scoring with 14:44 remaining as she redirected a corner kick from Janelle Smoyer past FDU-Florham goalkeeper Melissa Braun.

The Devils tied the game with 12:05 as Meg Griswold scored off a feed from Ashleigh Hoey. However, the Aggies came back just 15 seconds later as Shubra found a loose ball in the box and deposited her second goal of the game and third of the season.

Delaware Valley held a 10-7 advantage in shots while FDU-Florham had an 8-4 lead in corners. Emily Joyce was credited for one save and the victory while Braun made five stops at the other end.
