Delaware Valley 5, Centenary College 0

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Senior Ana Mecaj scored two goals and moved into sole possession of second place on the Delaware Valley College all-time scoring list as the Aggies blanked visiting Centenary College, 5-0, in a non-conference game.

The win was the third straight for Delaware Valley as it improved to 3-2 on the young season. The Cyclones fell to 0-2.

Mecaj opened the scoring with an unassisted tally just 7:52 into the contest. That goal upped her career point total to 86 and moved her past 2003 graduate Tara Corkery for second place. Mecaj added two more points to that total as her second goal of the game off a Brittany Shubra assist came in the first 14 minutes of the second half for a 4-0 Delaware Valley advantage.

Christine Gregory and Elise Dauber scored in-between the Mecaj goals. Gregory's was unassisted and with 29:01 left in the first half while Dauber's tally came three minutes later and off a feed from Brittany Shubra. Janelle Smoyer ended the scoring midway through the second half off an assist from Nicki Martini.

Delaware Valley dominated the contest and held a 38-1 advantage in shots, including a 25-0 margin in the first half. Emily Joyce stopped the one shots for her first shutout of the year. Coree Reuter made 20 saves in the loss for Centenary.
