Delaware Valley College 5, Goucher College 2


TOWSON (MD) -- Delaware Valley College scored four times in the second half as the Aggies notched a 5-2 victory over host Goucher College in a non-conference game.

It was the inaugural meeting between the two schools in the sport of women's soccer as the Aggies improved to 2-6 on the year. Goucher fell to 1-6.

With the game tied at 1-1 at the intermission, Delaware Valley came out and outshot the Gophers, 18-6, in the second stanza. Janelle Smoyer gave the Aggies the lead for good just 8:34 in the second half with an unassisted goal, her second of the game.

Delaware Valley upped the lead to 4-1 over the next 17 minutes as Ana Mecaj and Kate Decker found the back of the net. Dana Ronyack assisted on Mecaj's goal while Brittany Shubra assisted on Decker's tally.

After a Goucher goal made it 4-2, Decker took a feed from Katie Leach and scored her second goal of the game with 6:11 remaining. Earleir in the game, Leach helped get the Aggies out to a 1-0 lead as she assisted on Smoyer's first goal of the day.,

The Aggies finished with a 30-12 edge in shots. Lindsay Eversole made nine saves in the win.
