Women's Soccer

Wilkes University 3, Delaware Valley 0

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Rene Bolin scored a pair of goals as the Wilkes University women's soccer team clinched the fourth and final Freedom Conference playoff berth with a 3-0 shutout at Delaware Valley College.

The Lady Colonels improved to 9-8-2 overall, 4-3 in the conference. They will now travel to the top seed, The University of Scranton, for the Freedom Conference semifinals on Wednesday, November 5 (game time TBA). The Aggies, who would've clinched the playoff spot with a victory, saw their season come to an end with a 6-8-2 overall record and a 3-4 mark in the conference.

Bolin gave Wilkes a 1-0 lead with 28:14 left in the first half off an assist from Chrstina Waldele. It stayed a one-goal game until 10:11 into the second half when Bolin took a feed from Tara Friedman and scored her 10th goal of the season. Waldele added an unassisted tally with 25:15 remaining.

Wilkes outshot the Aggies, 18-5, including an 8-1 edge in the second half. Katie Green made two saves to pick up the shutout while Lindsay Eversole and Celia Clemens combined for 10 stops for Delaware Valley.
