Women's Soccer

Delaware Valley 9, Lake Erie College 0

WAYNESBURG (PA) - Kate Decker tallied two goals and two assists as the Delaware Valley College women's soccer team tied a school record for goals in a game with its 9-0 shutout of Lake Erie College in the first round of the Waynesburg College Yellow Jacket Shootout.

The Aggies (1-1) now move to the championship game against Bryn Mawr College on Sunday.

The nine goals tied the team record from a 9-0 rout of Albright College in 1999. Delaware Valley set a new mark for shots in a game with 40.

The Aggies scored five times in the first 13 minutes of the game. Decker had a goal and two assists during that time. Following Ana Mecaj's unassisted goal 1:56 into the contest, Decker assisted on Stacey Doderer's tally with 41:01 left. Doderer then dished off to Janelle Smoyer for Smoyer's first goal of the season and a 3-0 lead.

Two minutes later, Decker set up Katie Leach for the junior's first goal of the year. Decker then took a feed from Mecaj and made it 5-0. Freshman Katie Kurylo made it 6-0 before halftime as she scored her first collegiate goal off a Katie Leach assist.

Decker, Doderer and Mecaj scored unassisted goals in the second half. Lindsay Eversole and Celia Clemens made one save apiece in the shutout.
