Women's Soccer

Delaware Valley 2, Cabrini College 1

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Lauren Rusnak successfully converted a penalty kick with 14:37 remaining regulation to lift the Delaware Valley College women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over visiting Cabrini College in a non-conference game.

The win was the third in the last four games for the Aggies as they improved to 4-6-1 on the year. The Cavaliers fell to 8-4-1.

Delaware Valley was awarded the penalty kick after sophomore forward Ana Mecaj was dragged down in the box. Rusnak stepped up and the senior defender beat Cabrini goalkeeper Mary Mower for her second goal in as many games. She also had a penalty kick in Saturday's 6-3 win over Neumann College.

Cabrini took an early 1-0 lead as Christine Watson scored off an assist from Chrissy Weney just three minutes and 49 seconds into the contest. The Aggies tied it up with 13:41 to go before intermission as
Rusnak dished to Mecaj and she blasted it home for her team-best eighth goal of the season.

The Cavaliers held a 34-26 advantage in shots, but Delaware Valley goalkeeper Lindsay Eversole made 20 saves in the game.
