Aggies Win Yellow Jacket Shootout Championship On Penalty Kicks

WAYNESBURG (PA) - The Delaware Valley College women's soccer team captured the Waynesburg College Yellow Jacket Shootout championship by defeating Bryn Mawr College on penalty kicks. The game was tied at 2-2 after 90 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods before the Aggies won on penalty kicks, 4-2.

(Please note - penalty kicks were used to determine the tournament champion. However, according to NCAA rules, all contests decided by the tiebreaker procedure of taking kicks from the penalty-kick line or spot shall be counted as TIES for each team's overall record. The score shall be recorded as a TIE. No statistics - goal or saves - from the penalty-kick session count toward team or individual totals.)

Stacey Doderer, Emily Hane, Ana Mecaj and Lauren Rusnak successfully converted their penalty kicks to help give Delaware Valley the victory.

Mecaj gave the Aggies a 1-0 lead as she took a pass from Katie Leach and scored her third goal of the tournament and the season six minutes into the contest. Bryn Mawr tied the game midway through the first half but Leach helped the Aggies regain the lead as she fed Emily Hane for Hane's first goal of the year.

Lindsay Eversole made eight saves in net for Delaware Valley.
