Delaware Valley 4, Marymount University 1

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Freshman Ana Mecaj scored two goals and added an assist as Delaware Valley College snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-1 home victory over Marymount University in a non-conference game.

Mecaj and fellow freshman Dana Ronyack helped give the Aggies (7-6) a 2-0 lead less than nine minutes into the contest. Ronyack took a feed from Mecaj and deposited her third goal of the season just 3:41 into the game. Then it was Ronyack's turn to set up Mecaj, who beat Saint goalkeeper Stephanie Kerr with 36:51 left in the first half.

Marymount (3-11) made it a 2-1 ballgame just 3:58 before halftime as Lauren Costar's corner kick caromed off the far post and into the net.

It stayed a one-goal game for the next 34 minutes before Mecaj was dragged down in the box for a penalty kick. Senior Tara Corkery took the free opportunity and blasted home her fifth goal of the season and the 28th of her career. She is just one goal behind 2001 graduate Stacy Richenderfer for second place on the Aggie all-time goals list.

Mecaj put the icing on the cake with 1:40 left as she took a pretty pass from Katie Leach and scored her team-best 11th goal of the season. The rookie also leads Delaware Valley in points with 25.

Delaware Valley outshot the Saints, 19-11, in the contest. Lindsay Eversole made 10 saves for her seventh win of the season while Stephanie Kerr made nine stops for Marymount.
