Aggies Eliminated From Playoff Contention, Ends Season With Winning Record

MADISON (NJ) -- Sophomore Shinobu connected with 12:26 remaining to propel the Drew University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Delaware Valley. The victory secured a Freedom Conference playoff berth for the Rangers and eliminated the Aggies from the postseason race.

Delaware Valley ended its season 10-9 overall and 3-4 in the Freedom Conference. It's the team's first winning season since 1998.

Bharaj's goal came on a feed from freshman Laura Moss just outside the 18-yard mark. Drew outshot the Aggies 19-8 in the contest. Lindsay Eversole made four saves for Delaware Valley and finished the year with a school-record 189 stops.

Three seniors - Tara Corkery, Alicia Leonetti and Kirsten Wurzburg - played the final game of their collegiate careers for the Aggies. Corkery ended her career as the school's second all-time leading scorer with 29 goals and 26 assists for 84 points. Wurzburg is fifth on the all-time list with 17 goals and 10 assists for 44 points.

Ana Mecaj led the team with 15 goals and six assists for 36 points - the second-highest, single-season scoring total by a freshman in Delaware Valley history.
