Delaware Valley 2, DeSales University 0

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College used two second-half goals to down visiting DeSales University, 2-0, and keep its Freedom Conference playoff hopes alive.

The Aggies are now 9-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference with a pair of conference games left on their schedule (October 30 versus Drew, November 2 at King's). They must win both contests and get some help to reach the postseason.

It was Senior Day for Delaware Valley as the school honored its three seniors - Kirsten Wurburg, Tara Corkery and Alicia Leonetti - at halftime.

The game was scoreless at the intermission and it stayed that way for the first 29:02 of the second half. Wurzburg then got free and sent a shot past Bulldog goalkeeper Melissa Levush for a 1-0 Aggie lead. It was Wurzburg's third goal of the season and 17th of her career.

Delaware Valley added an insurance goal with 1:22 to go as freshman Ana Mecaj set up fellow rookie Janelle Snoyer for her second goal of the season.

The Aggies outshot DeSales (5-11-1, 1-5) by a 23-7 margin. Lindsay Eversole stopped six shots and picked up her second shutout of the season. Levush recorded 13 saves in the loss.
