Penn State-Harrisburg 4, Delaware Valley
College 3
DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Matt Christman scored with just 2:52 remaining
to lift Penn State-Harrisburg to a 4-3 victory over host Delaware
Valley College in a non-conference game.
After a wild first-half that featured a combined six goals, neither
team could find the net in the second stanza and overtime loomed.
However, Christman took a feed from Jun Karube and beat Aggie goalkeeper
Nick D'Amato in the closing minutes to give the Nittany Lions their
fourth win of the year (4-5-1). The loss dropped Delaware Valley
to 2-9 on the season.
The Aggies' Andrew Kelley and Penn State-Harrisburg's Danny Francis
put on an offensive display in the first half as Kelley had two
goals and an assist while Francis notched all three Nittany Lion
tallies. Kelly started the scoring 4:41 into the contest off an
assist from Eric Maciag, but Francis tied the game seven minutes
later with an unassisted goal.
Kelly and Maciag teamed up again to regain the lead for Delaware
Valley with 16:12 left in the half. However, Francis scored goals
with 14:18 and 1:45 remaining before the intermission for a 3-2
Penn State-Harrisburg advantage. The Aggies then tied the game with
just 56 seconds to go before halftime as Kelley assisted on Ken
Dilts' goal. It stayed 3-3 until Christman's heroics at the end.
Penn State-Harrisburg held a 14-11 advantage in shots. Andrew Geib
and Dan McGlone combined for seven saves with McGlone getting credit
for the win. D'Amato stopped five shots for the Aggies.
