Lebanon Valley College 5, Delaware Valley
College 1
ANNVILLE (PA) - Delaware Valley College hit the scoreboard for
the first time in 2007 and the goal was scored by none other than
41-year-old junior Tom Drummond in the Aggies' 5-1 loss at Lebanon
Valley College on Thursday afternoon.
Drummond, a Chalfont, Pennsylvania resident who played sparingly
last season upon his enrollment at the Division III school, knocked
home a rebound off a corner kick opportunity with 35:05 remaining
in the contest to make it a 3-1 ballgame. Matt Dias was credited
with an assist as the Aggies (0-6) ended a long scoreless streak
that began with the last two games of the 2006 campaign.
Lebanon Valley (4-2) regained a three-goal lead less than two minutes
later as Ben Wagner found the net off a Joe Kopchick assist. Chris
Rothermel ended the scoring with 13:47 remaining as five different
Flying Dutchmen scored in the contest. Brian Reinhardt, Dan Pitonyak
and Mark Johnson connected in the first half for a 3-0 lead at the
break.
Lebanon Valley held a 35-7 advantage in shots and a 7-3 advantage
in corners. Nick D'Amato stopped 16 shots in the loss for Delaware
Valley while Tim Mehl and Andrew Raudensky combined for three saves
at the other end.
