Arcadia University 4, Delaware Valley College 1

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Matt Benner scored three goals as Arcadia University notched its first-ever victory in Freedom Conference play with a 4-1 triumph over host Delaware Valley College.

The Knights, who joined the conference this year, improved its mark to 1-10-2 overall and 1-1 in the Freedom. The Aggies fell to 2-12 and 0-2.

Benner opened the scoring with just 3:15 remaining in the first half off an assist from Andrew Plunkett. Delaware Valley's Matt Dias tied the contest less than two minutes later as he took a pass from Eric Maciag and deposited his fourth goal of the season.

However, Arcadia took control in the second half by scoring three goals, including two in the first 20 minutes of the stanza. Jon Toomey netted what turned out to be the game winner with 36:20 remaining. Benner then completed his hat trick by scoring with 25:57 and 9:27 remaining. The first came off an assist from Plunkett while the last goal was scored off a penalty kick.

Arcadia held a 14-4 advantages in both shots and corner opportunities. Jeff Krathohwill made two saves for the Knights while Nick D'Amato and Steve Richtmyer combined for four stops for Delaware Valley.
