AGGIES RALLY FOR 4-3 WIN OVER IMMACULATA, SNAP 62-GAME WINLESS STREAK

IMMACULATA (PA) - The streaks are over.

Jeremy Fennell scored with 2:43 remaining to cap a second-half rally as the Delaware Valley College men's soccer team snapped a 37-game losing streak and a 62-game winless streak with a 4-3 triumph at Immaculata University.

It was the first collegiate victory for every player on the Aggie roster and also the first for new head coach Brian Kammersgaard. The Aggies were 0-60-2 during the streak with the last victory occurring on November 1, 2003 when they ended that season with 1-0 triumph at Wilkes University. The last match that they did not lose took place exactly two years ago today with a 3-3 tie at home against Moravian College on September 15, 2005.

"I can't say enough about the guys," Kammersgaard said. "They fought back, rose to the challenge and deserved this win and this moment. Now, we're on a winning streak."

Down 3-1, Delaware Valley (1-6) scored three times in the final 12 minutes for the victory. The last goal came off a corner kick that went across the box near the far post. Eric Maciag, who had a game to remember, headed the ball back towards the opposite post and it looked like it might find the net. However, Fennell didn't wait to find out as the sophomore headed the ball himself into the net for a 4-3 triumph. The Aggies then watched the final seconds tick off the clock, setting off a wild celebration on the field.

The Aggies took a 1-0 lead just 7:36 into the contest as Maciag scored off a feed from Nathan Knight. However, the Mighty Macs (2-2) notched the next three goals as Kevin Glenn, Bryan Foster and Kieran Keeland found the net for a 3-1 lead at the intermission.

It stayed a 3-1 game until Delaware Valley's Matt Dias scored on a breakaway with 11:48 remaining. Maciag tied the contest with 5:08 to go with Knight picking up his second assist of the game. That set the stage for Fennell's heroics in the waning moments.

Delaware Valley managed just eight shots in the game compared to 20 by Immaculata. Senior Nick D'Amato stopped eight shots for his first collegiate win in net. Jimmy Casper and Stone Gahagan each played a half in net for the Mighty Macs with Casper credited with one save.
