2007 SEASON PREVIEW
It's the start of a new era for the Delaware Valley College men's
soccer program as Brian Kammersgaard has taken over as head coach.
Kammersgaard has brought a new philosophy and attitude to the Aggies
since arriving in December of 2006, and the 12 returning letterwinners
along with a solid recruiting class will look to turn the team's
fortunes around.
Sophomores Matt Weiler (Philadelphia, PA/Roman Catholic) and Matt
Dias (Easton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) paced the Aggies a year as
they had two goals for four points apiece in '06.
Fellow sophomore Jeremy Fennell (King of Prussia, PA/Delaware Valley
County Christian) rounds out the returning scorers as he assisted
on two goals for two points. Another sophomore, Kery Swope (Marietta,
PA/Elizabethtown) was recently named the team captain for the 2007
campaign. The young defender appeared in 17 games last season.
Joining Swope on defense are seniors Ken Dilts (Robbinsville, NJ/Lawrence)
and Josh Oman (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) and sophomore Ryan
Masterson (Hopatcong, NJ/Hopatcong). Junior letterwinners Tom Drummond
(Chalfont/La Salle) and Jon Trotta (Vernon, NJ/Sussex County Tech)
return to midfield along with sophomore Nathan Knight (Annville,
PA/Palmyra).
Senior Nick D'Amato (Penns Park, PA/Council Rock) and sophomore
Steve Richtmyer (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield Central) return in net. D'Amato
made 72 saves and notched a 5.52 goals against average in eight
games before he moved to the field and scored a goal. Richtmeyer
appeared in 13 contests and racked up 110 saves, en route to a 3.33
goals against average.
Delaware Valley opens the 2007 season on Saturday, September 1
when the Aggies battle the home team at the Swarthmore College Tournament.
