Widener University 4, Delaware Valley College 2

CHESTER (PA) -- Matt Hand and Doug Gabel scored goals 29 seconds apart as Widener University erased a 2-1 halftime deficit and downed Delaware Valley College, 4-2, in the Garnet Alumni Classic. The game was moved to a later time and to Widener's field due to the inclement weather from over the weekend.

The Aggies (0-2) built their halftime advantage as sophomore Matt Weiler and freshman Joe Antoniello scored unassisted goals. Weiler's tally came with 12:39 remaining before the intermission while Antoniello responded to a Pioneer goal by connecting with 4:06 to go before the half.

However, Hand tied the contest off a header with 29:42 to go in regulation. Then just 29 seconds later, Widener was awarded a penalty shot and Gabel blasted it past Aggie keepr Nick D'Amato. The Pioneers then added an insurance goal with 55 seconds left in the game as Max Bernhard scored off an assist from Justin McCall.

Widener held a 26-5 advantage in shots. D'Amato was credited with six saves for the Aggies.
