CHESTER (PA) -- Swarthmore College pounded out 36 shots and connected eight times as the Garnet registered an 8-1 victory over Delaware Valley College in the first round of the Garnet Alumni Classic. The game was moved to a later start and to Widener University's field due to the inclement weather.

Swarthmore had 18 shots in each half. The Garnet scored twice in the opening 45 minutes on tallies by Stu Leon and Yoi Tibbetts. They then found the net six more times in the second stanza, including a pair of goals by Colton Bangs.

Delaware Valley's lone tally came with 6:34 remaining in the contest as Matt Dias scored his first collegiate goal off a rebound opportunity. Nick D'Amato made 13 saves in the loss.
