Men's Soccer

Chestnut Hill College 3, Delaware Valley College 2

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Andrew Thorne scored with 7:13 remaining to lift Chestnut Hill College to a 3-2, non-conference victory over host Delaware Valley College.

With the game tied at 2-2, the Griffins (6-2-1) had a number of opportunities to take the lead, but they hit two posts and one crossbar while an Aggie defender stopped another shot that was heading for the net. Then with the clock closing in on seven minutes to go, Matt Gallo's shot drilled of the crossbar. However, the rebound when right to Thorne and he deposited his 14th goal of the season.

Chestnut Hill jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead as Michael Kuch scored just 14 seconds into the contest. Carlos Navarrete made it a two-goal game as he connected on an unassisted tally with 14:56 to go before halftime.

The Aggies (0-9) hit the scoreboard with just 3:42 remaining before the intermission as Matt Weiler scored his second goal off a feed from Mick Hannan. Delaware Valley then tied the game midway through the second stanza as a counter attack saw Trevor Provost set up Nick D'Amato for the senior's first goal of the season.

Chestnut Hill held a commanding 34-10 advantage in shots and a 13-1 advantage in corners. Steve Richtmyer made his first collegiate start in net for Delaware Valley and the freshman recorded 16 saves.
