Men's Soccer

DeSales University 2, Delaware Valley 1

CENTER VALLEY (PA) - Randy Sturm's unassisted goal 4:13 into overtime lifted the DeSales University men's soccer team to a 2-1 home victory over upset-minded Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game.

The Aggies fell to 0-8-1 overall and 0-2 in the conference with the tough loss while the Bulldogs improved to 7-1, 2-0.

With time winding down in regulation, Delaware Valley's Tarweh Witherspoon put a shot towards goal that deflected off a defender and into the net. It was the junior's first goal of the season and it tied the game at 1-1 with 2:22 to go.

However in overtime, Sturm dribbled around the Aggie defense and beat goalkeeper Nick D'Amato for his eighth goal of the year and the game winner. DeSales had jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second half on Dustin Sturm's second tally of the season.

The Bulldogs had a commanding 32-8 advantage in shots and a 9-2 advantage in corners. D'Amato was outstanding in defeat, stopping 13 shots. Rusty Riedmiller made three saves for the Bulldogs.
