ALL-AREA TEAMS
Pavlik (Field Hockey), Rissinger (Football) And Stambaugh (Football)
Honored
DOYLESTOWN (PA) - The 2007 Philadelphia Inquirer Fall Academic
All-Area Teams were recently announced and Delaware Valley College
had three student-athletes honored: Bethany Pavlik (Lewes, DE/Sussex
Technical) of the field hockey team and Greg Rissinger (Chalfont,
PA/Central Bucks West/Social Sciences) and Ralph Stambaugh (Westminster,
MD/Francis Scott Key/Criminal Justice) of the football team.
Pavlik, a sophomore midfielder, recorded at least one point against
every Freedom conference opponent this year. She finished with 20
goals and 10 assists (tying the single-season mark) for a school-record
and a conference-leading 50 points. Pavlik has been named an all-Freedom
Conference second-team honoree for two consecutive years and also
earned a spot on the conference's 2007 all-academic team. She is
an equine science and management major who holds a 3.62 cumulative
grade point average.
Rissinger, a junior defensive end, notched 25 tackles, 4.5 sacks
and three pass breakups in a starting role for the Aggies. He has
been named to the Middle Atlantic Conference all-academic team in
each of the last two years. He is a social science major and holds
a 3.84 cumulative grade point average.
A 6-foot-2, 300-pound junior offensive lineman, Stambaugh earned
a spot on the all-MAC first team for the 2007 campaign. He was the
anchor of an offensive line that helped the Aggies place second
in the MAC in scoring (25.3 avg). Stambaugh, a criminal justice
major, is a two-time member of the conference's all-academic team
and holds a 3.38 cumulative grade point average.
To be nominated for a Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area
Team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in class standing
and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. The teams are
then voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions
from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
