News 2008 SEASON REVIEW
DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- The Delaware Valley College golf team, under head coach Doug
Linde, recently completed its 2008 season. The Aggies went 4-4 in head-to-head
meets and then placed fifth at the Freedom Conference Championships.
Junior
Nick van Hook (Oakland, NJ/Don Bosco Prep) earned first team, all-conference honors
for the second year in a row as his two-day, 36-hole total of 161 placed him in
a tie with two others for fifth place out of 32 golfers. Van Hook was officially
awarded the fifth spot as his second round score of 79 earned him the tiebreaker
edge. For the season, van Hook averaged 82.8 strokes per round. Senior
Scott Gingrich (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) capped his collegiate career by tying
for 14th place with a 36-hole total of 173 at the Freedom Conference Championships.
Gingrich averaged 86.8 strokes per round during the year to trail only van Hook
on the Aggie roster. Freshman Ryan Terrill (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown),
sophomore Mike Molchan (Bath, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) and junior Ryan Tretter (Ephrata,
PA/Grandview Heights Christian Academy) also competed at the Freedom Conference
Championships. Terrill notched a 176 over the two days and finished tied
for 18th place. He was third on the team during the year with an average of 87.3
strokes per round. Molchan had an average score of 92.6 for the season and he
finished in 30th place at the conference championship with a 36-hole total of
187. Tretter placed 32nd with a 202 and he averaged 97.8 strokes per round for
the year.
Brandon Bidwell (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown), Chris Burnell
(Seaville, NJ/Cape May County Tech) and Brian Madden (Cleona, PA/Annville Cleona)
rounded out the Delaware Valley roster. Bidwell, a sophomore, competed
in two matches and registered rounds of 87 and 95. Burnell averaged 96.7 strokes
per round in three events during his freshman campaign while Madden shot a 97
in his lone match of the season. | |
