Aggies Finish In Eighth Place At Glenmaura Invitational


MOOSIC (PA) - The Delaware Valley College golf team finished in eighth place out of 11 teams at the prestigious Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational.

The Aggies finished with a two-day total of 650 to top Gettysburg College (665), Lebanon Valleu College (671) and King's College (674) in the team standings.

York College of Pennsylvania captured top honors at the event with a team total of 613. Franklin & Marshall College was three strokes behinds while Susquehanna University (617), Moravian College (620), McDaniel College (626), The College of New Jersey (637) and The University of Scranton (646) rounded out the top seven.

Individually, Mike Everingham led Delaware Valley and finished tied for 12th in the overall field as he notched a two-day total of 156. Everingham shot a seven-over-par 79 on Sunday but improved his total by two strokes on Monday.

Dustin Pierce was tied for 20th place with a 159 (79 and 80) while Nick van Hook was tied for 40th with rounds of 85 and 84 for a 169. Jeff Pianelli's two-day total of 170, including a 12-stroke improvement from 91 to 79, placed him 42nd. Joe Scioscia tied for 52nd with a 97 followed by an 80 for a two-day total of 177.

The Aggies will now prepare to defend their Freedom Conference championship this coming weekend at Shawnee-on-the-Delaware Valley. For the first time ever, the conference champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III tournament.
