Aggies Finish 5th At MAC Championships

SHAWNEE-ON-DELAWARE (PA) -- The Delaware Valley College golf team finished in fifth place out of 14 teams at the 2004 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships, hosted by the Shawnee Country Club. The championships were scheduled for 54 holes, but only 45 were completed due to inclement weather.

The Aggies, who were the MAC runners-up a year ago, moved from seventh to fifth in the second and final day of competition. They registered a team score of 803 while Susquehanna University won the conference crown for a 10th consecutive year with a 750. Moravian College (775), Elizabethtown College (789), Lebanon Valley College (791) and Delaware Valley rounded out the top five.

Shawn Cooper, who earned a medal by tying for fourth at last year's MAC Championships, finished tied for 14th in 2004 with a 45-hole score of 196. The junior moved up 12 spots as he shot a one-over-par 73 in the 18 holes that were played on Sunday.

Mike Everingham tied for 16th place with a 197 while both Dustin Pierce and Lou Shults shot 205 for the tournament and finished tied 31st. Joe Lynch also competed for the Aggies and he tied for 52nd place with a 217.

Buddy Yarger of Susquehanna won the individual title with a four-over-par 184. Moravian's Brian Bergstol was next with a 186.
