Aggies Take Second Place At Widener University Invitational

MIDDLETOWN (DE) - The Delaware Valley College golf team recorded its best finish ever at a tournament as the Aggies took second-place honors at the 18-team Widener University Invitational. The invitational was held at the Par-72 Frog Hollow Golf Course.

The Aggies registered a four-man score of 323 which tied them with Goldey Beacom College, but they were awarded the runner-up trophy thanks to a lower score by the fifth golfer (who did not count in the team standings). Freshman Mike Everingham's 85 topped Goldey Beacom's fifth golfer by five strokes.

Division II Millersville University won the invitational with a score of 308. Widener (329) placed fourth while Division I programs University of Delaware and La Salle University tied for fifth with a four-man score of 333.

Sophomore Shawn Cooper earned an individual medal for Delaware Valley as he placed fifth with a three-over-par 75. Senior Steve McDonald tied for 14th with an 81 while freshman Dustin Pierce was tied for 19th with an 82. Sophomore Lou Shults shot an 85 to finish tied for 33rd with Everningham and eight other golfers.
