AGGIES FINISH SECOND AT MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Cooper (tied - 4th), McDonald (8th) Earn Individual Medals
SHAWNEE ON THE DELAWARE (PA) - The Delaware Valley College golf
team had its best finish in school history as the Aggies placed
second out of 14 teams at the 2003 MAC Championships. The two-day,
54-hole tournament was held at the par 72 Shawnee Country Club.
Delaware Valley had a team score of 957 and trailed only Susquehanna
University which captured its ninth conference championship in a
row with a 924. Moravian College (961), Elizabethtown College (967)
and Wilkes University (971) rounded out the top five.
Sophomore Shawn Cooper and senior Steve McDonald each earned individual
medals by placing in the top 10. Cooper, who led the field after
day one, finished tied for fourth with a 233 (rounds of 75, 75 and
83). McDonald earned his second straight medal as he finished eighth
with a 236 (rounds of 77, 77 and 82). Three Susquehanna players
took the top three spots including champion Steve Datt who shot
a 225 (rounds of 77, 71 and 77).
Freshman Mike Everingham finished tied for 25th place with a 246
(rounds of 89, 79 and 78) while fellow rookie Dustin Pierce finished
for 29th with a 248 (rounds of 82, 87, 79). Sophomore Lou Shults
was tied for 39th with a 255 (rounds of 82, 82 and 91).
