Delaware Valley College 42, FDU-Florham 14

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Sophomore quarterback Mike Isgro went 18-for-24 for 239 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 39 yards and a score to lead Delaware Valley College to a 42-14 Homecoming win over FDU-Florham in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game.

The win was the third straight for the Aggies who improved to 3-3 overall but, more importantly, 3-0 and tied for first in the conference. With the loss, the Devils dropped to 2-4 (0-3 MAC) on the season.

Delaware Valley scored on six of its first eight possessions and racked up 467 yards of total offense. The performance followed last week's 599-yard showing in a 49-13 victory over Lebanon Valley College.

The Aggies took the opening kickoff and drove all the way down to the FDU seven-yard line. However, a 23-yard field goal attempt was blocked by Kevin Hatcher-Puryear. After forcing a Devil punt on their first possession, the Aggies took over on their own 42 and went 58 yards in four plays to take a 7-0 lead. Isgro capped the drive with a 13-yard touchdown run with 2:26 left to play in the first quarter.

Delaware Valley got the ball back with 14:47 left in the second quarter and proceeded to go 11 plays and 75 yards in 5:06 to take a 14-0 lead on a two-yard touchdown pass from Isgro to tight end Brad Emmons. After an FDU three-and-out, the Aggies needed just two plays to go 64 yards for another touchdown. On second down, Isgro escaped a sack and found wide receiver Jimmy Smith for a 59-yard scoring strike to give the Aggies a 21-0 lead with 7:13 left in the half.

Delaware Valley then scored a pair of touchdowns just 47 seconds apart in the closing moments of the first half for a 35-0 advantage. Safety Quincy Thaxton sacked FDU quarterback Bill Winters and forced a fumble that the Aggies' Greg Rissinger recovered on the FDU 31-yard line. Five plays later, Sheffield punched it in from two yards out to give Delaware Valley a 28-0 lead with 1:56 remaining in the half.

The Devils then had to punt the ball back to the Aggies and a short kick gave them the ball on the FDU 42-yard line. The first play saw Isgro drill a touchdown pass down the middle to a wide-open Dan Heiland to put the Aggies up 35-0 with 69 seconds left before the break.

Delaware Valley made it 42-0 with 8:46 to go in the third as a nine-play, 65-yard drive was capped by freshman tailback Matt Cook's six-yard touchdown run.

The Devils got on the board with 12:44 left in the game as Winters found senior tight end Ray Kwiatkowski for a seven-yard touchdown. They scored again with 3:42 remaining on a 15-yard scoring strike from Winters to Kyle Bukowiec.

Sheffield (70 yards, one touchdown) and Cook (58 yards, one touchdown) led an Aggie ground attack that compiled 229 yards. Heiland, a freshman, led the receiving crew with four catches for 100 yards and one score. Travis Albanesius and Zach McCann paced the defense with six tackles apiece.

For the Devils, Winters finished 15-of-29 for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Bukowiec had six catches for 76 yards and a score.
