PURSELL, ALBANESIUS NAMED TO D3FOOTBALL.COM ALL-EAST REGION SECOND TEAM

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College senior defensive standouts John Pursell (Middletown, DE/Middletown) and Travis Albanesius (Green Lane, PA/Upper Perkiomen) were each named to the D3football.com 2007 All-East Region Second Team.

The teams, selected in balloting by East Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 173 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 75 players were chosen. The D3football.com All-American Teams will be announced later this month.

Pursell was named to the all-region team for the third straight year (first team in 2005, second team in 2006 and 2007). The three-time all-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) linebacker led the Aggies and ranked third in the conference with 93 tackles. He also tied Albanesius and one other player for second in the conference with 15 stops behind the line of scrimmage. Pursell, who starred in the Aztec Bowl with six tackles over the weekend, ended his career as the school's third all-time leading tackler with 319 stops.

Albanesius picked up the all-region honor for the first time in his career. The nose guard, who was also an all-MAC first-team selection, was tied for second in the MAC with 15 tackles for losses. He finished third on the team in sacks with four and was fourth in total tackles with 53.

Delaware Valley finished the 2007 campaign with 5-5 overall record and a 5-2 mark and a tie for second place in the MAC.
