PURSELL SHINES AT AZTEC BOWL
Aggie Linebacker Ties For Top Honors In Tackles

CHIHUAHUA (MEXICO) - Delaware Valley College senior linebacker John Pursell (Middletown, DE/Middletown) led the defensive charge as the United States, comprised of Division III all-stars posted a 37-19 victory over the Mexican National Team at the 2007 Aztec Bowl on Saturday evening.

Pursell started the contest and racked up six tackles (four solo) to tie Rowan University's Randy Tosh for top honors on the squad. He made solo stops on Mexico's first two offensive plays of the game and also broke up a pass in the contest. Pursell helped the defense hold Mexico to just 20 rushing yards on 29 carries.

A three-time all-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) first team honoree, Pursell finished his career as the Aggies' third all-time leading tackler with 319 stops. In 2007, Pursell paced the squad with 93 tackles, including 15 behind the line of scrimmage.

Former Widener, Delaware Valley and La Salle head coach and current Aggie assistant Bill Manlove served as head coach and led the United States to victory for the second year in a row.
